INTRODUCTION:

Rovering/Rangering is a way of life. It’s the senior wing of Scouting and Guiding. Rovering/Rangering was started by the Scout Movement Lord Baden Powell founder in 1918. Any regular student of College/ University between the age group of 15 to 25 years can be enlisted as a Rover (Boy) / Ranger (Girl). A unit consists of 24 Rovers called Rover Crew and 24 Rangers called Ranger Team. Rovering/Rangering is a uniform activity. LBS P.G. College started the Rovers and Rangers unit in the academic year 2021-22 with the guidance of Rover / Ranger officer Dr. Geeta tiwari. We have one unit running on Rover and Ranger.

MEMBERSHIP:

A Rover crew is run under the leadership of a Rover Scout Leader and a Ranger team is run under the leadership of a Ranger Leader registered in college. Any regular male student can join the Rover crew and female students can join Ranger Team. If a member is exceeding 24 in a unit, a new (Rover Crew/Ranger Team) unit can be formed.

OBJECTIVES: The movement's purpose is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens, and as members of the local, national, and international communities.MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value-based system based on the Scout Promise and Law to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society. This is achieved by:

  • involving them throughout their formative years in a non-formal educational process
  • using a specific method that makes each individual the principal agent in his or her development as a self-reliant, supportive, responsible, and committed person
  • assisting them to establish a value system based upon spiritual, social, and personal principles as expressed in the Promise and Law
VISION STATEMENT:“ BY 2024 THE BHARAT SCOUTS & GUIDES, THE LARGEST YOUTH MOVEMENT, WILL BE SELF-RELIANT, VALUE-BASED, QUALITY ORIENTED, WELL MANAGED AND OFFERING INNOVATIVE, CHALLENGING PROGRAM BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH COMPETENT LEADERS, EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION, OPTIMUM USE OF TECHNOLOGY AND EFFICIENT MANAGEMENT.”

PRINCIPLES: The Rovers/Rangers Movement is based on the following principles:

  • Duty to God: Adherence to spiritual principles, loyalty to the religion that expresses them, and acceptance of their duties.
  • Duty to Others: Loyalty to one's country in harmony with the promotion of local, national, and international peace, understanding, and co-operation. Participation in the development of society with recognition and respect for the dignity of one's fellow men and for the integrity of the natural world.
  • Duty to Self: Responsibility for the development of oneself.
THE PROMISE: The Promise for the Rovers: “On my honor, I promise that I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country To help other people, and To obey the Scout Law." The promise for the Rangers: “On my honor, I promise that I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country To help other people, and To obey the Guide Law."
