The aim of right kind of education is to develop complete human beings, equipped not only with technical knowledge but also with sensitivity to the world around them. It should bring to mind an ability to empathize with all living things, to appreciate the beauty and harmony in nature, to introspect, to balance one’s inner self with external world. Keeping all these essential objectives in mind and specifically the requirements of the students of the rural area, a need to open an educational institute was felt by the enlightened and progressive people of Halduchaur, a town 15 kilometers away from Haldwani, in the district of Nainital in Uttarakhand. Thus the college has come into existence in the year 2002 initially as a technical institute.
Later on it acquire a new name Lal Bahadur Shastri Degree College which was a deeply cherished dream project of Mr. Harish Chandra Durgapal, then President and all members of the Regional Rural Development Committee of Halduchaur. Later on Mr. Harish Chandra Durgapal then Honourable labour Minister and all the members of Management Committee decided to hand over the college to the Govt. of Uttarakhand.
On 06-11-2015 the college was taken over by the Uttarakhand Govt. On 28-06-2016 Dr. R.C. Purohit took over charge as the first Govt. Principal of the college. At present B.A. , B.Sc., B.Ed., B.Com., M.Com. and M.A. courses are running in semester mode.
